NORTH PARKING LOT IS CLOSED
The North Parking Lot, which serves the clothing optional beach, will be closed due to construction for at least 10 months. The lot has been redesigned with the construction of the boat storage building in mind and an ADA compliant ramp is being installed to connect this lot to the beach.
Park admin tells us that people have been driving around the “Lot is Closed” signs at the entrance to the North Lot and advise that citations will be issued if caught. The entrance to the North Lot through the Marina is closed, so Lot 1 (just south of the Marina entrance) is now the closest lot to the beach.
Please park in marked designated spaces. The end “caps” are for motorcycles only. The boat trailer parking lot will be open to beach goers during non-peak days. The lot opens at 8:00 a.m.
And another thing . . . Don’t get naked until you reach the clothing optional section of the beach. The boundaries are clearly marked. Now is NOT the time to be a rebel.
We've been expecting this, having been given prior warning by Parks, and it's good to know progress is being made. So now not only will you be getting your minimum daily requirement of Vitamin D and sea air, you’ll be getting some exercise as well.

0 TOLERANCE FOR GLASS ON THE BEACH-$100 fine. Service Animals Only (and please clean up their poop!)

Naturist Action Committee Advisory
A federal program allows the creation and "signing" of online petitions to suggest an official action, position or policy. To quote the White House, "If a petition gets enough support, White House staff will review it, ensure it's sent to the appropriate policy experts, and issue an official response."
This petition proposes that there be designated portions of National Parks Service, Bureau of Land Management and U.S. Forest Service land for clothing-optional recreational use. SFFB in Key West
While in Key West for Fantasy Fest, Richard and Shirley Mason, Paul Friderich and girlfriend Ruth made a statement for nude beaches. They got a lot of attention, that’s for sure.
 South Florida Free Beaches has offered our support to several groups in the past, but these groups have disbanded. We stand ready to help a viable effort to establish a beach.
Currently there is no formal group pursuing a clothing optional beach in the Keys. Of course everyone says it would be great, but until a local Keys based group is willing to spend the time and money to organize an effort, it just won’t happen.

Midwinter Naturist Festival - Feb. 13-18

The Nude Beach News Video Blog
Albert Pantaleon, SFFB Member, Beach Ambassador and long-time naturist photographer, has created a video blog for SFFB called The Nude Beach News.
See interviews on the beach with visitors as well as updates on the latest beach developments. Particularly, watch Richard Mason, Government Affairs Chair, talk about pending legislation in Tallahasse. We could use your help with the expense of his trip to Tallahassee to speak with legislators and committee members with a donation to our Legal Defense Fund.

We Can Help Our Marine Friends
 Living in Southeast Florida we share the sea with dolphins and whales who sometimes need our help. The Southeast Regional Office of the Marine Stranding Program has offered their assistance with two new apps for both iPhone and Android devices.
The Dolphin & Whale 911 app enables people in the Southeast U.S. to report dead, stranded, injured, or entangled marine mammals by connecting them to the nearest response hotline. The app will help the user with identification by providing an electronic field guide and a list of “do’s and don’ts” when you find a marine mammal.

SFFB Goes to School
Albert Pantaleon, Beach Ambassador and Norma Mitchell, VP, received an invitation to speak about naturism at a sociology class at Miami-Dade Community College. The group initially contacted The Naturist Society who hooked us up.
We enjoyed educating these young adults about naturism and body acceptance. We were well received and opened their minds to a different perspective about skinnydipping.

The SuperBowl of Naked Volleyball Anyone?
Lake Como Club is hosting its popular 13th annual tournament from March 7th to the 16th. Players come from far and wide to complete, including university teams, although all levels of expertise is included. SFFB would like to send a team from Haulover, so if interested send us an email.

The Mere Threat of Nudity . . .
Nudity is used to sell products, but this company has a different spin on things. If the stated low money amount on board isn't enough to deter would-be thieves, they believe that the possibility of seeing a naked truck driver will do the trick. I wonder if they're right.
