Dear Naturist Friend:

BEACH AMBASSADOR TRAINING
(& pizza party)

SATURDAY, SEPTEMBER 21

We usually have our quarterly training sessions on Sunday, so we decided to try one on Saturday to accommodate those who have other weekly plans on Sunday. Meet us by Lifeguard Tower 15 at 11:00.We'll supply pizza for lunch so please RSVP.

We’ll be patrolling with each other to do some ambassador work. Some people have suggested a buddy system would help them feel more confident when resolving a situation. Here’s a chance to find a partner(s).

While you’re not on patrol, hang out at our Information Booth to gain experience on helping people looking for information. A very interesting and diverse crowd usually stops by to say hi and ask how they can help us. Shirley Mason will be sharing info on the naturist world. We are not alone!

Loading the Info Booth on the truck at 3:00 is a very manly-man job. So guys, here’s your chance to show off for the ladies. Let’s see if you can outwork Richard. He’s just as amazing at 80 as he was at 60. Only person who can outwork him is Clyde, who’s two years older.

All are welcome to spend the day with us, even if you’re not interested in being an official BA with a hat. We  have “undercover” BAs (shhhhhh!) who don’t wear a BA hat, but are willing to be our eyes and ears while on the beach. Did you know that BAs get free parking?

We urge everyone to participate in the support of Haulover Beach park. Get involved and keep our beach bare.

GUINNESS WORLD RECORD SKINNYDIP
Sunday, November 3

Hope it's in your plans to be here to support our attempt at breaking the world record. It stands at 729 at the moment by a beach in Spain, http://www.guinnessworldrecords.com/records-12000/largest-skinny-dipping-%28swimming-naked%29. We rounded up 788 in 2011 for a different Guinness, so it's possible to break the record if we all participate.

How about taking a "Come On Down" challenge? Get a group of your beach buddies together, rent a bus or carpool, bring signs from your resort or club and stake out your territory on the beach.

We'll be needing volunteers, so let us know if you can give us a couple hours of time registering participants.

We'll be collecting a registration fee of $5.00 p/p which we're donating to the Paralyzed Veterans of America - Florida Chapter.  If you can't make it, but want to help our Vets, donate on-line at www.sffb.com as if you're making a donation to our Legal Defense Fund. Just make a note in the Ordering Instructions.

ADDITIONAL HANDICAPPED PARKING

We have long had nine spaces south of the old lifeguard building, and now have an additional six spaces north of the brand new yellow-towered lifeguard building.  They are located at about mid-beach and at two separate entrances, several hundred feet apart.  They often fill up by ten or earlier on busy days.

We have long fought with the county parks for more spaces, and actually filed a complaint with the US Department of Justice several years ago. As a result they are about to begin work on ramping the north tunnel for wheelchair access from the north lot. That project, in conjunction with rebuilding the north lot, will take a year or longer to complete. No start date has been set as yet.

Parks has several manual chairs with high-flotation tires that can be borrowed to be pushed over the sand to the water's edge. You can call Park headquarters at 305-947-3525 for more information.

BEACH SHOWER FACELIFT

At the urging of SFFB, Parks cleared out the surrounding shrubbery, evened out the mobi-mat and cleared out the sand that had accumulated under the shower floor planking. This will help with drainage as well as give people more room to wait their turn at the shower. So much better!

Wouldn't it be nice to have another shower at the south end? We're working on it.

Kudos to Park Management for their attention to making our beach even nicer.
