Dear Naturist Friend:![]() HAPPY 4TH OF JULY! Going For the Guinness
Gold
We're attempting to put Miami Dade County's Haulover Park clothing-optional beach in the record book. Why? We think it's a step toward making designated clothing-optional beaches a legitimate mainstream recreational choice. And why is that important? Many loyal Haulover fans keep their visits secret because they fear judgement from others. Social nudity carries a stigma in our American culture. We've been programmed to believe that nude is lewd. The only way to change that belief is to draw the general public's attention to a successful example of a clothing-optional beach. We're protecting the freedom to make a choice to swim and sunbathe naked rather than wear clothes. It sounds so simple, doesn't it? Even if we don't break any records, it'll be a fun day of celebration. To break the record, we'll need you in the water with a registration wristband, naked (except for hat & sunglasses) at 2:00 p.m. Please wear the goofiest hat you've got. For those coming for the weekend, here are some hotel deals. Current card-carrying SFFB members will receive the following rates: Newport Beachside Hotel – http://www.newportbeachsideresort.com/ Standard charge for a one-bedroom suite is $300.00. For SFFB members it'll be $99.00. Daddy-O

June Being in the position of Vice President and Treasurer of SFFB, I am aware of gifts we receive from people who value the freedom experienced at Haulover Beach. We needed a new PC when the old timer we use for data admin gave up the ghost. When Ted, a Beach Ambassador, realized our need, he said “Go shopping!”, Tim, read about our planned attempt to break the Guinness World Skinnydipping Record and gifted us 1,000 wristbands to tag registrants. A friend in Naples, FL answered our call for a webmaster and applied for the (pro bono) job. Bare Necessities Tour and Travel donated a cabin on their nude cruise in February to raffle off to fill our Legal Defense coffer. There are, of course, those 400 loyal fans from around the country who renew their annual sponsorships. People put money in our donation jar when we set up our Information Booth once a month. Those realizing our need to be politically active, which means campaign contributions and lobbyist bills, send us money twice a year during our Legal Defense Fund appeal. We are also assisted by a variety of national, state and local organizations. These are just the ones that come to mind at the moment, but this list is nowhere complete: But volunteering is the gift
from the heart without which we’d wither and die. Without these generous
people the task would be impossible. Did you know that the Board of
Directors of SFFB and the Beach Ambassadors are all volunteers? Many of
you take the time to sign petitions, write letters and emails to
politicians, attend public meetings and spend your precious time helping
us throughout the year. There is so much love shown for
Haulover Beach, sometimes I can’t get my head around it. I was at the beach recently doing my Beach Ambassador volunteer “work” (if you can call it that). What a great place to people watch. Talk about diversity! And, for the most part, the people there are friendly, helpful and respectful. The water was perfect, the ocean breeze was refreshing, the lifeguards were on duty, the beach was clean and the sun was shining. Do I sound grateful? I really am. And I know you are too. That’s why you’re reading this newsletter. So thanks one and all for making it seem like Christmas in June. You can always find us at www.sffb.com if there’s anything we can do for you. New York's Lighthouse Beach Needs Your Help Skinnydipping has been prohibited at the long-time naturist beach on Fire Island National Seashore. Proper justification was not given and proper process was ignored. Do you have the time to write an email or snail mail letter. Please read about the situation and do what you can to help. http://www.naturistaction.org/AlertsAdvisoriesUpdates/UPDATES/NY_2013_FIIS_Update_06-12-13/ny_2013_fiis_update_06-12-13.html ------------------------------------------------------------ | ||||
