Dear Naturist Friend, ALERT! We recently received news of a Westrec Marinas boat storage facility to be constructed in Haulover's north parking lot. Following is our initial concept of the impact of this facility, based on plans we were shown by the Parks Department:  The multi-level boat storage facility eliminates the overflow grassy parking area, covers part of the existing paved parking lot, and intrudes into the wooded mitigation areas. We are currently gathering data, including environmental impact. Expect a follow-up email shortly on this important issue of concern to Haulover naturist beach users, including a detailed concept plan. A similar boat storage plan at Matheson Hammock Park is being investigated by the Sierra Club. NATURIST SOCIETY FESTIVALS & GATHERINGS The Midwinter Naturist Festival is over this year, but it's not the end of the festival season! NATURIST ACTION COMMITTEE
Paul Friderich, Jr. presents check from SFFB to Naturist Action Committee board members Morley Schloss and Rich Pasco at the Midwinter Naturist Festival. NAC is the political action adjunct of The Naturist Society. Over the past year, NAC's Allan Baylis, an attorney, has been defending pro bono individuals cited for nudity at CA's San Onofre State Park. The resolution of this critical issue can have an impact on all existing naturist beaches in this country. In other years, when there have been issues in Florida, NAC has contributed to SFFB's Legal Defense/Political Action Fund. The organizations' mutual support, as most needed, is intended to enhance naturist freedoms throughout the USA. www.naturistaction.org Where Has All the Money Gone? ..."...long time passing..." perhaps you remember the old song? Topless Controversy: Androgyny, high fashion & top-freedom  Male model phenom Andrej Pejic's androgynous looks let him walk the fashion catwalk either as a man or a woman.Apparently this becomes an issue where the flat-chested Pejic may be mistaken for a woman. When Pejic was featured on a 2011 cover of the culture & art magazine Dossier, according to the magazine's Creative Director Skye Parrott, Barnes & Noble and Borders asked for all copies of the magazine to be placed in "opaque poly bags because even though they knew Andrej was a man, he looked too much like a woman, basically...It's not a coincidence that it's only the giant U.S. chain stores that are asking us to do this....It's only the American copies that are being censored."  Story in Huffington Post We just thought this story was the perfect illustration of the absurdity of the U.S. cultural ban on showing the female chest...even when it's really a male chest masquerading as a female one. Maybe if he didn't have his hair in curlers?
