Dear Naturist Friend, Happy holidays and happy nude year to all our naturist friends! SFFB and our affiliate B.E.A.C.H.E.S. Foundation are still working on future Haulover events for 2012, after 2011 that featured National Nude Weekend, The Celebrated Nude, and the FantaSea Fest. Of course, reservations are still being accepted for B.E.A.C.H.E.S' NUDE YEAR FESTIVAL. If you still haven't made New Year plans, please consider attending. The place to be for New Year's Eve: B.E.A.C.H.E.S' NUDE YEAR FESTIVAL This month we bring you info on events at 3 premier Florida TNS & AANR affiliated nudist resorts. Consider joining us this year in February at Sunsport Gardens for the Midwinter Naturist Festival and in April at Cypress Cove for Rock to the 60s. Tent sites are available at both events. Sunsport has very limited rental cabin and trailer accommodations. Cypress Cove has 80 large modern motel rooms, but early registration is advised, because rooms sometimes sell out for larger events. Also, the Superbowl South volleyball tournament at Lake Como Cooperative (Florida's oldest nudist resort) has grown to a major naturist event in Florida. There are special reduced rates for players. If you have never visited a nudist resort, this is a great opportunity to explore three of Florida's finest! Details below.... TNS Membership Rates Starting January 1, 2012, The Naturist Society has reluctantly increased all rates by $5/year, due to increasing costs. Florida Afterburn afterword November 2011 Check out photos from Afterburn and SFFB's Naked City here Florida Burn information: Afterburn website Preheat website Inspired by the huge annual Nevada Burning Man Festival, Burns are smaller 'counter-culture' art-themed festivals emphasizing community, participation, self-expression & self-reliance. Attendance at Florida Burns is around 600. Since 2007, SFFB has participated at the annual Spring Preheat and Fall Afterburn with its Naked City camp; in addition to SFFB members, participants included members of many Florida nudist resorts such as Cypress Cove, Lake Como and Sunsport Gardens. Burns provide an opportunity for us to introduce Naturism to the 'Burners' - a median 35 year old demographic - most of whom do not self-identify as nudists, but are often not adverse to nudity...which is common at Burn events, especially with fire twirlers and other performance artists. For this year's Naked City at Afterburn, SFFB's Ken Tauer created and drives the motorized Chariot of Fire. SFFB's camp also featured body painting and a naked slip 'n slide. A little history... If you're new to South Florida Free Beaches, explore our history on our website...from Virginia Key in the early 80s, through the "beachless" years, and the establishment of the clothing-optional section at Haulover in 1991...and beyond. (That's Shirley Mason on the left with the 'fro at a King Mango Strut parade in Coconut Grove in the mid-80s.) Our PHOTO page includes 3 photo albums/slideshows documenting the history, as well as more recent event photos.
